Calligraphy & Lettering

I too have caught the calligraphy and lettering bug. I first saw it at school, and then every other blogger in the face of this universe has done a calligraphy/lettering post, so I decided I would, too. It is SO easy. One girl I know stated that she could never do something this cool, but I told her how to do it and...BAM! Just like that, she caught the lettering bug as well.

I use a Uniball Vision pen for my lettering. It is so smooth, I love it!

1.) First lightly sketch with pencil what you want to letter. I don't really sketch it lightly, I just write it and then erase it so that there is still a faint outline. I do this because my pen gets smudged a bit when I erase the pencil after I do the actual pen part.

2.) When I do lettering, I like to do all sorts of different types of letters. Like this one, for example. I just write the letter in all capitals, and then on the vertical I draw a line and close it off to create a kind of a box.

3.) Then there is the calligraphy itself. Basically what you do is write what you want to calligraph (I don't think that's a word - I was trying to come up with a word that meant "what you want to do calligraphy to" but that sounds weird) in cursive, and then put lines {see below, this is a bit hard to explain} on the vertical lines of the word, and fill those in. It's that simple!

I hope you try calligraphy and lettering! I love doing it, it's so much fun and slightly addictive - I now have one part of my wall dedicated to my calligraphy!
